What to Expect on Your First Day at Loxdale
Starting at a new school in a new country can feel overwhelming, but don't worry — we've got you covered! Here's what your first day at Loxdale English Centre will look like.
Arrival & Welcome
Arrive by 8:45am on your first Monday. Our friendly reception team will be ready to greet you with a warm smile and a cup of tea (or coffee!).
You'll receive: - Your student ID card - A welcome pack with campus map - Your timetable - Important contact information
Placement Test
Don't panic — this isn't an exam! The placement test helps us understand your current English level so we can put you in the right class.
What's included: - Grammar and vocabulary assessment - Short writing task - Brief speaking conversation with a teacher
The test takes about 45 minutes, and there's no pass or fail — it's simply to help us help you.
Campus Tour
After your test, you'll join a guided tour of our beautiful Victorian campus. You'll discover: - Classrooms and common areas - The student lounge - Our lovely garden (perfect for summer lunches!) - Computer room and library resources - The dining hall
Meet Your Classmates
By lunchtime, you'll be placed in your class and meeting students from around the world. Many students tell us they make lifelong friends on their very first day!
First Lesson
Your afternoon starts with your first real lesson. Teachers focus on: - Getting to know everyone - Fun icebreaker activities - Setting expectations for the course - Answering your questions
Social Programme Preview
Before you leave, our activities coordinator will introduce the week's social programme. Whether it's a pub quiz, beach volleyball, or a trip to Brighton Pier, there's always something to look forward to!
