Frequently Asked Questions
We welcome students with B1 level and above at any time. On your first day, you'll take a short placement test so we can put you in the right class. You'll study with students at your level, and we reassess regularly so you can move up as you improve.
We also welcome A2 students on set dates. Please ask to do our online test in advance so we can make sure the class will suit you.
If you have A2 level of English, there are set course dates: 17 August, 14 September 2026 and 4 and 11 January 2027.
For students with B1 level and above, the General English course runs year-round and new students can join on any Monday. There's no need to wait for a specific start date – just choose the Monday that works for you.
General English gives you 20 lessons (15 hours) per week, focusing on all four skills — £240/week. Intensive English gives you 25 lessons (18.75 hours) for £315/week — the same core programme plus additional afternoon focus sessions for faster progress. Both include the same free 11th-week offer for longer stays.
During summer (7 June – 15 August 2026), adult General English courses are delivered by our partner school ELC Brighton in central Hove. You'll receive the same high-quality teaching in a different Brighton location, about 15 minutes by bus from Loxdale. Young learner courses continue at the Loxdale campus.
That depends on your goals. As a general guide, moving up one CEFR level (e.g. B1 to B2) typically takes 12–14 weeks of study. If you book 11 or more weeks outside summer, every 11th week is free — making longer stays even better value.
However, learning is a very personal experience, and everyone learns at a different pace. As well as the work you do in school, it can depend on how much you take advantage of the optional extra work our teachers suggest and how many hours you decide to study each week.
No, accommodation is booked separately. We offer homestay options (from £156/week) and on-site residential accommodation (£250/week, out of summer only). Use our Price Calculator to see the full cost including accommodation.
