How to get to Brighton from the airport

From Gatwick Airport (the easiest option)

Gatwick is the nearest airport to Brighton and the one we recommend. The railway station is inside the South Terminal, a few minutes' walk from arrivals, and a free shuttle connects the North Terminal.

Direct trains run to Brighton throughout the day and night. The journey is roughly half an hour, and there is no need to change trains. Buy your ticket from a machine or counter at the station, or use a contactless bank card at the barriers.

From Heathrow, Stansted and Luton

These airports are further away, and the journey takes longer. From Heathrow, the usual choices are a direct coach to Brighton, or the Underground into central London and then a train from Victoria.

From Stansted or Luton, you travel into London first and then continue south. Allow plenty of time between your flight and your onward journey, especially if you are arriving in the UK for the first time.

From central London

Trains to Brighton leave from London Victoria, London Bridge and St Pancras International. The fast services take about an hour, which is why so many students spend a Saturday in London and come home the same evening.

Tickets are cheaper when you buy them in advance rather than on the day, and a railcard can reduce the price further if you are staying for several months.

The last part: Brighton to the school

Loxdale English Centre is at 1 Locks Hill, Portslade, BN41 2LA, in the Brighton & Hove area. From Brighton station, local trains reach Portslade in about ten minutes, and the school is around a seventeen-minute walk from Portslade station.

There is also a bus stop directly outside the school, and buses run along the main road into central Brighton and Hove throughout the day and evening.
