Too Old for Junior Courses, Too Young for Complete Independence?
At 16 or 17, you're ready for the challenge and stimulation of adult English classes — but you still deserve the care and support that comes with being under 18. At Loxdale, we've been welcoming 16 and 17-year-old students for over 47 years. You'll study alongside students from around the world in our adult programmes, while benefitting from enhanced safeguarding measures designed specifically for your age group.
This isn't a watered-down experience. You'll take the same classes, use the same materials, and be taught by the same experienced teachers as adult students. The difference is the safety net around you: carefully vetted homestay accommodation, a dedicated welfare team, curfew, and a signed parental consent process.

Summer Courses (7 Jun – 15 Aug 2026)
During summer, Loxdale's adult courses are delivered at our partner school, ELC Brighton in Palmeira Square, Hove. 16-17 year olds have two options:

Study Summer General or Intensive English at our partner school in central Hove. The same adult-level classes with enhanced safeguarding. All welfare provisions (curfew, vetted homestay, welfare team) still apply.

Young Learner Programme
All forms must be completed and emailed to office@loxdale.com before the course start date. Bookings cannot be confirmed without signed parental consent.
Accommodation — Homestay Only
All students aged 16 and 17 must stay in Loxdale homestay accommodation. This is a safeguarding requirement — we do not offer residential or self-catering options for this age group (outside of the YL summer programme, which has its own residential option).
