Who is ELC?
The English Language Centre has been teaching English since 1962 and was rated Joint #1 UK language school by the EL Gazette. Their beautiful school at Palmeira Square in Hove offers modern facilities, a vibrant international community, and is just a short bus ride from central Brighton.

Summer English with Personal Attention
For adults studying at Loxdale during the summers, we have a partnership with another British Council accredited school, The English Language Centre (ELC), to ensure a good mix of ages and nationalities. Students aged 17 and 18 may have classes at Loxdale English Centre, although 18-year-olds have the option to have classes at the ELC. Other students will have classes at The ELC in Palmeira Square.
During this period, the ELC will look after your academic life and the adult social programme.
The Summer General English Course continues to provide a balanced programme of English tuition for students who need English for study, travel, or work. You will work on a mixture of English language topics including grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, idioms, and colloquial language, whilst focusing on skills such as speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
The maximum class size is just 12 students, which means that the teacher will be able to give you lots of personal attention.
At the end of the course, you will receive an attractive certificate showing your level of achievement. Hang it on the wall. Show your family and friends. You've earned it!
Please note: During the summers, students may have morning or afternoon lessons. See the Sample Timetable for the timings of these.
