Loxdale, an English language school in Brighton, is made up of three buildings, only seconds away from each other, on the same site. If you are looking for high quality, affordable English lessons then look no further.
In 1979, we moved to the current site at Loxdale. We have a wonderful, large site where we can offer courses for both adults and children in separate areas, so they don’t disturb each other. Most of our language teachers have many years’ experience in the teaching of English as a foreign language to a variety of different aged students. As a further guarantee of quality, our School is accredited by the British Council for teaching English in the UK and is a member of English UK, Young Learners English UK and Sussex Safeguarding.
Loxdale is inspected by the British Council to ensure the quality of our work. Due to our success in the latest inspection, Loxdale is now in the Top 8% of all British Council accredited English teaching centres in the UK. The British Council is the body which checks and accredits our industry. This result shows the hard work, passion and dedication of our staff who want to make sure that our students get the best possible course at a reasonable price.
The summary statement from the British Council says:
The British Council inspected and accredited Loxdale English Centre in January 2020. The Accreditation Scheme assesses the standards of management, resources and premises, teaching, welfare, and safeguarding under 18s and accredits organisations which meet the overall standard in each area inspected (see www.britishcouncil.org/education/accretitation for details).
This private language school offers courses in general English for adults (18+) and young people (16+) and for closed groups of under 18s and individual under 18s (11+) and vacation courses for under 18s (8+) in school premises.
Strengths were noted in the areas of staff management, student administration, publicity, premises and facilities, learning resources, academic staff profile, academic management, course design, learner management, teaching, care of students and leisure opportunities.
The inspection report stated that the organisation met the standards of the Scheme.
We welcome adult students all year round. We accept international young learners in January (12- to 17-year-olds) and the summer period (8- to 17-year-olds). In addition to that, we also accept young learners in closed courses at any time out of the summer period.
Whether you are an adult or child, our courses are based on active student participation and designed to reinforce your learning experience and appreciation of the English language and British culture and life.
Loxdale is not like most other language schools for adult students. Out of the summer, we offer you chances to individualise your learning and course and to learn more than just English language.
Our lively and interactive programmes are designed for students who wish to improve their ability to communicate in English in the company of like-minded people from around the world, whilst also enjoying the experience of learning in Brighton, one of the UK’s most vibrant, open-minded and culturally diverse cities.
