    Learn English Through Creative Expression

    English with Art combines 21 English lessons each morning with 4 subject-based art sessions every afternoon — totalling 25 lessons (18.75 hours) per week. You'll develop your English skills naturally while building an art portfolio to take home.

    Brighton is the perfect setting for this course. From the street art of North Laine to the galleries of the seafront, you'll find creative inspiration everywhere. Your afternoon workshops take full advantage of the city's vibrant arts scene.

    More than just English lessons — a complete cultural and creative immersion

    Morning English Classes

    21 lessons per week • 15.75 hours

    During the mornings, you study General English — a lively and interesting course that helps you communicate confidently and fluently in everyday English. You will focus on the skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, with maximum time to learn and practise new vocabulary, grammar, colloquial English, and idioms.

    Afternoon Art Workshops

    4 sessions per week • 3 hours

    The art section consists of lectures, educational visits, and practical work. You are encouraged to explore your creative potential during your free time by developing photography projects, painting, and mixed media skills in response to various ideas and subject matter.

    You will explore a variety of themes and be introduced to a range of processes, styles, and techniques — including sketchbooks, photography, and screen printing. This enables you to develop personal and theoretical responses to the arts through various forms of expression and mediums, all while practising English with like-minded students and tutors.

    Applied English

    Personalise your learning with four lessons per week focused on your specific interests. Choose from speaking, pronunciation & fluency, grammar, film, art appreciation, business English, creative writing, and music & lyrics. Students at B2 level and above join advanced C1/C2 classes for these sessions.

    Loxdale Lecture Series

    Every Friday morning, enjoy a stimulating lecture exploring British life and culture. Popular topics include homelessness, London architecture, British history, the Brighton music scene, street art, nutrition, and presentation techniques.

    Short Talks

    Each Monday afternoon features a 45-minute talk exploring fascinating topics. From Stonehenge and London museums to the South Downs and Christmas in Victorian England — these sessions bring Britain to life.

    Britain Today

    Two lessons each week exploring modern British society. Learn about the welfare, educational, political, and legal systems — essential context for understanding contemporary Britain.

    Everything you need to know about English with Art

    Not at all! Our workshops are designed for all ability levels, from complete beginners to experienced artists. Our specialist art tutors will guide you through each technique, ensuring you feel comfortable and supported throughout.

    All art materials are included in your course fee — paints, brushes, canvases, sketchbooks, photography equipment, and screen printing supplies. You don't need to bring anything except your creativity!

    You need a minimum B1 (Intermediate) level to participate fully in discussions about art and creative techniques. If you're unsure of your level, we'll assess you on your first day and can recommend the best course for you.
