Social Activities & Excursions
There are a variety of different social activities to take part in throughout the year.
Afternoon activities
Various clubs and societies are setup and run by the students themselves. These may include ball games, circuit training, films, board games, philosophy discussions, food evenings etc.
The school also has a common room and a computer room for students to use in their free time.
Evening activities
There is at least one evening activity organised in conjunction with the school staff each week. These may include salsa lessons, games evenings, barbecues, sports activities, quizzes, cooking or baking sessions, wine and cheese evenings, cream tea evenings and many more.
The majority of these activities are free or cost between 50p and £3 per person.
Mondays to Thursdays from 1830 to 2215 the School Pavilion and sports hall (both on the school site) are open for students to use if they wish. Here they can play board games, sports, watch a video or DVD or just relax and chat to their friends in a comfortable common room environment.
A number of our students also join local sports teams, clubs, societies or choirs. This gives students an excellent opportunity to meet more local people and to practice their English in a natural setting.
Trips to London
There are a range of trips available to London. Amongst other activities, students get the opportunity to visit The British Museum, The National Gallery, The Tate Britain, The Tate Modern, The Natural History Museum and The Science Museum.
Students studying for the whole term will have the opportunity to visit London for included in the course fee. Once there, teachers offer the students a choice of three afternoon options; a visit to The Globe theatre, a visit to the BBC or a visit to the Houses of Parliament. In the morning students can visit various sites such as the Imperial War Museum, Tate Modern, Museum of London, Natural History Museum and Science Museum.
Another free trip included in the course fee for students studying for the whole term is either Bignor Roman Villa near Chichester, or the historic town of Lewes.
Weekend Trips
Each term there are variety of different weekend trips students can join if they wish. Some of these trips are free and others cost between £12 and £25.
Students have the opportunity of visiting Chartwell (home of Winston Churchill), Salisbury and Stonehenge, Lewes, Portsmouth, Cambridge, Oxford and many more towns and cities in the area.
“There’s a lovely atmosphere at the school and everybody is so nice. There is a big difference between my previous schools and this one. The teachers listen more to the students I think.”
